Who we are

Logo European Centre for Renewable Energy

The European Centre for Renewable Energy (German abbreviation EEE) was founded as an association in Güssing (southern Burgenland), in 1996 to professionally coordinate and imple-ment all projects related to renewable energy. In 2002, the EEE Ltd. was founded as a 100% subsidiaryof the association. The EEE Ltd. is based at the Güssing Centre for Technology which the State of established in 2002. Meanwhile the EEE Ltd. has become a Europe-wide recognized institution for the development of sustainable regional and local concepts for energy saving and the use and production of renewable energy. As a reliable partner in various national and European networks the EEE has gained an excellent reputation. In the fields of research, development and project management, it has long since been a much sought-after coordinating office. It organises lectures and training in the field of renewable energy and ar-ranges guided tours through "Eco Energy Land”.

What we do in the project

Sun, water and biomass are the main resources for the production of renewable energy in the Alpine Space, and biomass is also the main resource especially in the Güssing region. Together with local stakeholders and with some strategic partners the EEE developed the so called Güssing Model, a strategy for a regional supply with renewable energy out of regional available resources in order to become self-sufficient in the fields of electricity, heat and fuels. A milestone is the Güssing biomass wood gasification plant with its related research department and projects, such as the methanisation plant (production of synthetic natural gas, gas filling station) and the fuel cell research project. Also biogas is a very important issue in the Güssing region and biogas will play an important and strategic role for future projects since the EEE is developing a strategy for a local biogas grid as well for the use of bio methane for transport. EEE wants to bring in all its experience gained in the last 20 years and the knowledge of current projects in the goals of the AlpStore project.

Apart from all project management, evaluation and reporting related tasks EEE will concentrate on the tasks of mobile vs. stationary use of biogas by executing pilot tests regarding use of bio-gas for mobile and stationary purposes and creating reports for decision makers.
